About Me

Hello! I'm Kevin Shvodian, a mechanical engineer with a love for creating innovative and exciting projects. Recently, I've found myself captivated by the fields of computer vision and robotics. The intersection between these technologies has opened up a world of possibilities, allowing me to develop some truly exciting projects. I'm eager to continue exploring how these tools can be used to create versatile and intelligent systems.

My approach to engineering is very hands-on, and I thrive on learning new skills that enhance my ability to design and fabricate a wide range of projects. I am proficient in CAD design, 3D printing, and various rapid prototyping techniques, which allow me to quickly bring my ideas from concept to reality. Additionally, I am teaching myself the fundamentals of circuit design and programming. I have successfully implemented programs in many languages such as Python, C, and MATLAB. As a mechanical engineer, I find programming most engaging when designing physical control systems, where I can see the direct impact of code on mechanical behavior.

I studied engineering at UC Santa Barbara, where I took classes like mechatronics, thermodynamics, and machine learning. Outside of class, I'm passionate about sports and outdoor activities. Lacrosse has been a significant part of my life for nearly 15 years, including four rewarding years on the UCSB club lacrosse team. This experience has taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and leadership that I apply to my engineering projects and collaborations. I also volunteer with local lacrosse teams as a coach, and teach engineering and robotics to local elementary and middle school students.

About This Website

This website marks my inaugural foray into web design. Crafted with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, it exemplifies responsive design principles, ensuring a seamless experience across various devices. Custom JavaScript powers the scrolling effects and fluid animations. The site's clean aesthetics and intuitive navigation reflect my commitment to user-centric design. Through this project, I've embraced the challenge of creating an engaging and functional UI, honing my skills in front-end development along the way. This portfolio piece not only showcases my technical abilities but also my passion for crafting visually appealing projects.
